Women Build 2020 Tentatively Postponed Until August 2020

As a community nonprofit that relies heavily on the support of others to carry out our work we have made the difficult decision to pause all volunteer activities, events, home construction and retail ReStore operations until further notice. During this pause, our staff continues working remotely to serve Habitat families who need safe and affordable shelter.

Future Women Build homeowners Mary and Keba need our help more than ever, and there is no cancelling their journey to build better futures for themselves and their families. Understanding this and the current health crisis in our country, for the safety of everyone, we tentatively plan to postpone Women Build until August 2020. We are sure there are many questions about details and logistics and we promise that as we work everything out, we will communicate information directly.

The efforts of this community have sustained our work with families, and continued support will ensure we weather this unprecedented challenge. All hands will be needed when we all emerge from this current crisis–please know that your advocacy and support is vital during these uncertain times.

If you are able to contribute now, please do so, so we can reach the Women Build goal of $200,000. We will stand ready to accelerate our efforts with renewed energy and commitment, and we will build again alongside Mary, Keba and all who need safe shelter in Bloomington.

While we’re a little sad to unveil our amazing t-shirt design this way (see posted image) we kind of find it fitting even more so for this time period we are in in our country and in our affiliate. As our CEO Wendi said recently, “nothing can stop women on a mission.” Nothing!
