Homeownership Program Application Window to Open April 12 – 23

Have you ever been curious about purchasing a home with Habitat for Humanity? Attend our homeownership information meeting to learn more! Our application window will be open from April 12 – 23 and you must attend a meeting to receive an application. Meeting dates are:

Wednesday April 7 & Thursday, April 8 • The Dimension Mill
624 North Madison Street, Bloomington

  • Session one: 6:00 – 7:00PM
  • Session two: 7:15 – 8:15PM

Could you qualify? To determine if you qualify officially, you’ll need to complete and submit the official application. Some questions to consider:

  • Have you lived or worked in Monroe County for at least one year?
  • Is your current housing in poor physical condition, overcrowded, unaffordable or subsidized (Section 8)?
  • Are you unable to purchase a home through a bank or other programs?
  • Do you have a steady income? Could you make affordable mortgage payments every month?
  • Is every person over 18 years of age in your family willing to do 250 hours of “sweat equity” (volunteer work) with Habitat for Humanity?

Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, the meeting will look a little different than last time. There are some general rules or guidelines we will ask you to follow:

  • You must properly wear a facemask (covering your nose and mouth) to enter the meeting space and during the program presentation.
  • The number of people allowed to be in the facility is very limited—please only have the members of your family who will be applying to the program in attendance. All attendees will be sitting one-person-per-table and we ask that you do not bring any children or minors with you due to space limitations. If you have any issues or concerns about this, don’t hesitate to email us.

We will be having two back-to-back sessions to accommodate those interested in the program so we will start and end promptly. Please do your best to be on-time—we cannot guarantee you will be able to attend if you are late.

If these meeting times or application window do not work for you, we do hope to be able to open up again this year. Please call 812.331.4069 to find out it dates, times or location have changed.
