Volunteering in Construction

Individual Opportunities
Habitat Monroe County homes are built by people like you! Help a neighbor realize their dream of home ownership and build alongside our hardworking families. First time on a build site? No problem! All skill levels are welcome and we are happy to teach you.

    • Every construction volunteer must be 16 years or older and complete a Release of Liability Waiver each year. Certain task restrictions apply for 16 and 17 year old volunteers.
    • All necessary tools and safety gear will be provided by us! If you have your own tools, please feel free to use them. Make sure to label all your personal tools with your name.
    • What to wear – An important key to safety when volunteering is what you wear! Please dress in comfortable clothes and shoes that you can work in. Layers are great! Long sleeved shirts and long pants are recommended. You must wear closed toed shoes. No flip flops or sandals!
    • Lunch is provided and sponsored by a local restaurant or donor!

Group Opportunities
Volunteering is a great way to bring your corporate, faith, or community group together and improve your teamwork. We offer construction and ReStore opportunities for groups. If you are interested in volunteering with a group or organization, please register and then contact us by phone or email for more details. One representative from your group must first attend an informal tour, and the Engagement Coordinator will be happy to schedule a time with you.

Are you a group volunteer coordinator? Or do you have any questions? To coordinate a group experience or if you have any questions about volunteering, please contact our engagement coordinator at (812) 331-4069, or by email at ec@monroecountyhabitat.org.
