Homeownership Program Application Window to Open June 21-July 1

Have you ever been curious about purchasing a home with Habitat for Humanity? Attend a Homeownership Information Meeting to learn more! Our application window will be open from June 21-July 1 and you must attend a meeting to be considered for & to receive an application. Meeting dates are:

Wednesday, June 8 & Thursday, June 9 • Monroe County Public Library Auditorium
303 E Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47408

Session one: 6:00 – 7:00PM
Session two: 7:15 – 8:15PM

Both sessions will be presented concurrently in English and Spanish – you only need to attend one meeting, but all adults (18+) in the household must attend a meeting.

To determine if you qualify officially, you’ll need to complete and submit the official application within the open application window. Some questions to consider:

  • Have you lived or worked in Monroe County for at least one year?
  • Is your current housing in poor physical condition, overcrowded, unaffordable or subsidized (Section 8)?
  • Are you unable to purchase a home through a bank or other programs?
  • Do you have a steady income? Could you make affordable mortgage payments every month?
  • Is every person over 18 years of age in your family willing to do 250 hours of “sweat equity” (volunteer work) with Habitat for Humanity?

To self-determine if you would qualify for the program, you can view more specific eligibility criteria HERE. Still have questions? Attend a Homeownership Meeting to learn more!

Due to continued health & safety precautions, the meeting will look a little different than in the past. There are some general rules or guidelines we will ask you to follow:

  • Face masks are not required, but encouraged in the meeting space and during the program presentation.
  • The number of attendees in the space are limited — if possible, please only have the applying (adult) members of your family in attendance. If you have any questions or concerns about this, don’t hesitate to email us.

We will be having two back-to-back sessions to accommodate those interested in the program so we will start and end promptly. Please do your best to be on-time—we cannot guarantee you will be able to attend if you are late.

If these meeting times or application window do not work for you, we do hope to be able to open up again this year. Please call 812.331.4069 to find out it dates, times or location have changed.
