The More Than Houses Society is critical to our affiliate. The generous pledges from the More Than Houses Society help us cover costs associated with family services, volunteer support, land purchases, infrastructure development, and more. Individual and group members make a long-term commitment to give at least $1,000 per year for five years.
The S.H.E. Society, was created to honor and challenge women+ builders who commit to raise at least $1,000 per year for 5 years. Members of S.H.E. Society will be recognized throughout the year for their efforts to support future Women+ Build house sponsorships and homeowners. All members also receive their own coveted pink hard hat and stickers to commemorate their years of membership.
The Habitat Groundbreakers commit to donate a set amount for each new Habitat home dedicated in Monroe County, providing the funds to kick-start the next Habitat build.
Each Groundbreaker will be notified when a Habitat home in Monroe County is dedicated with a request to contribute $50 towards the next Habitat home. We are currently building 8-12 homes annually.

As a monthly supporter, your donations help uphold and strengthen our ability to serve families in need in Monroe County. Monthly giving is a steady, cost-effective source of income that actually helps reduce administrative costs to the affiliate. This means more of your investment goes directly toward homebuilding and homeowner education, which gives many more deserving families hope for a better future.
How it works:
You decide how much you would like to give each month by filling out the online donation form. You may stop or alter your payments at any time by calling the office at 812.331.4069 or by emailing us.
You can set up your payment through a credit card or a bank account transfer and your donation will be charged or transferred around the same time each month. We will send you an annual giving receipt for tax purposes in January each year.
A charitable gift of stock or bonds can help make the dream of homeownership a reality for deserving family while also providing tax savings for you.
A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation.

Through our Home Sponsorship program, companies help Habitat meet our two greatest needs—the need for funding and the need for volunteers.
There are a variety of different engagement levels – from a Legacy Builder who sponsors the full cost of construction and land o $150,000, to an adopt-a-day for a small group at $1,500.
All sponsorships include benefits such as social media and online recognition, inclusion in a local Bloomington advertisement and/or press release, and recognition in Habitat’s annual report and More Than Houses event.
Sponsors are the key to Habitat’s success.
House sponsorships are a great way to foster team-building among your corporation, faith community, student group, and community group. You’ll enjoy a fun-filled day working alongside future homeowners and other community volunteers – creating a sense of unity among friends and neighbors. Our team will work with you to schedule ideal volunteer days on the construction site and/or our ReStore.
Building a home is a big investment, and your support makes it possible for our future homeowners. Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible support from donors like you, Habitat homes are sold to future homeowners and financed with affordable loans. As homeowners pay back their mortgage, the funds are reinvested in our program in order to offer future families an opportunity for homeownership.

Habitat’s Legacy Society members create new opportunities and preserve our future through planned gifts. These gifts can qualify for significant tax deductions and include bequests, charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
Naming Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County as a beneficiary in an IRA, life insurance policy, other financial account or in your will is one critical way that you can help provide for future stability and growth.

Bequest Provision
A provision in a will may be made using the following language:
I give, devise, and bequeath to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County,Indiana, a non-profit corporation located at 213 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, Indiana, _______ percent of my estate (or the sum of $__________; or ________ percent of the residue of my estate) as an unrestricted gift.
As the need for affordable housing continues to grow, securing land for homes for the families on our waiting list becomes more challenging. If you are aware of a parcel of land in the county that may be available, we’d like to talk to you.
When we’re able, we purchase land at fair appraisal value. You can help create affordable housing in our community by contacting us if you know of available property or are interested in donating or selling property.

Donating a car, truck, boat, RV or other vehicle is quick, easy and may be eligible for tax deduction purposes if you itemize (consult the IRS or tax advisor for details). Cars for Homes (TM) accepts a majority of vehicles with proper title and ownership information, and even makes arrangements to have your vehicle, keys and title picked up for processing.
Proceeds generated by donated vehicle sales are used by us to build homes in partnership with local families.

You can demonstrate your support for Habitat by ordering a Habitat license plate from the BMV. The plates cost $40, $25 of which goes to our Indiana Habitat for Humanity support organization.

The annual More Than Houses event serves as our largest single-day source of operating support. It is our chance to gather with our community to highlight stories and successes of the prior year; share our goals and vision of the next year; and hear from current and future Habitat homeowners about their homeownership journeys.

This year, we will be returning to a more traditional format of our cherished in-person event, but will be shifting to two smaller-capacity sessions. Please plan to join us from 7:30-8:30am or 6:00-7:00pm.
Guests are invited by table captains, who are also highly engaged Habitat supporters, Board members, and staff. If you don’t receive a personal invitation from a table captain but would like to attend the event, please let us know – we would be happy to save you a seat!
