A provision in a will may be made using the following language:
I give, devise, and bequeath to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County,Indiana, a non-profit corporation located at 213 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, Indiana, _______ percent of my estate (or the sum of $__________; or ________ percent of the residue of my estate) as an unrestricted gift.
This home will change our lives for the better, and I know my kids will be so much better off. It’s not just a health improvement. It’s also a change in the way our family feels about being a family. Like we’re achieving something. We’re all working together toward this goal, and we will have this house at the end of it, and it will be ours. And that gives you a sense of hope, and that is more than all of the physical aspects of owning a home. The hope and the knowledge that you’re improving your life. Jennifer and Shawn Blythe, Habitat Homeowners
I volunteer as I can hardly think of anything better than helping those in need of building a home they can call their own. And I love the Habitat for Humanity approach of not giving a hand out but a hand up. Our local Habitat is such a caring and active part of our community that it is easy to want to take part and be a “good neighbor".
