Last month, Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County welcomed a new group of future homeowners into its homeownership program.
Since 1988, Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County has expanded affordable housing opportunities in our community, partnering with local families as they work toward the goal of homeownership. Through the program, future homeowners invest hundreds of hours building not only their own homes, but also the homes of others. Along the way, they attend homeowner education courses that equip them with practical skills in budgeting, home maintenance, and communication. These tools help lay the foundation for long-term success as homeowners.
This journey is about more than building houses. It’s about creating opportunities, stability, and a place to call home. Each family’s commitment reflects the determination and hard work that make affordable homeownership possible, while strengthening the entire community.
Our 2026 cohort recently participated in orientation and is now preparing to begin homeownership classes, complete construction hours, and take the next steps toward purchasing their homes with Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County. Congratulations to our future homeowners as they begin this exciting chapter!
