Tax Credit Giving Opportunities

We invite you to take advantage of the new Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit program!

WhoTax credits are available for any qualified individual taxpayer, small business or corporation in Indiana who makes a donation for Habitat for Humanity of Indiana.

What: Starting in 2024, these tax credits can be used to offset individual income or business taxes in the year the donation is made.  Eligible donations can be checks and credit cards, approved land, stocks and bonds, or cryptocurrency.

How: The tax credit is equal to 50% of the donation made to Habitat. For example, a gift of $1000 qualifies you for a $500 tax credit on your Indiana state income tax return. There is a cap of $10,000 in tax credits allowed per tax year (for a $20,000 donation), but unused credits may be carried over for up to 5 years. The minimum donation is $1,000 for $500 in tax credits, and the maximum is $20,000 for $10,000 in tax credits.

Where: To process the tax credits, donations must be made to Habitat for Humanity of Indiana. Please include Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County on your tax credit form to ensure your donations benefit our local affiliate. Our development director, Lindsey Boswell, is available to answer any questions and assist you with completing your form.

Donate: To participate, email [email protected] to receive your tax credit form, or download your form here. Checks must be sent with the completed tax credit form to Habitat for Humanity of Indiana, 101 W Ohio St., Ste 2000, Indianapolis, IN 46204. If you have any questions, contact us at 812-331-4069.

You may also make a financial gift or a gift of stock online here (though online credit card gifts incur a transaction fee). Please indicate Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County in the memo line.

House Sponsorships

House Sponsorship Program

Through our Home Sponsorship Program, businesses, community organizations, faith communities, and student groups help Habitat meet our two greatest needs – the need for funding and for volunteers. It costs, on average, $175,000 to build each Habitat home: $120,000 for materials and $55,000 for land and infrastructure.

There are a variety of sponsorship levels from a Legacy Builder who covers the full cost of construction and part of the land costs at $150,000, to an adopt-a-day opportunity with a$1,500 gift.

All sponsorships include benefits such as social media and online recognition, team building opportunities, special event invitations, and listings in the annual report, website, and monthly e-newsletters.

We are happy to create online landing pages to support collective fundraising efforts, host Lunch and Learns for your office or group, and customize activities to best fit your goals.

Sponsors are the key to Habitat’s success, and an incredible opportunity to connect with our community. Thank you for your consideration!

Giving Societies

The More Than Houses Society is critical to our affiliate. The generous pledges from the More Than Houses Society help us cover costs associated with family services, volunteer support, land purchases, infrastructure development, and more. Individual and corporate members make a long-term commitment to give at least $1,000 per year for five years.

The Legacy Society creates new opportunities and makes a lasting difference in the community through a planned gift to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County. Planned gifts enable our affiliate to develop bold strategies for the future and take advantage of opportunities to make the greatest impact. As you plan for your future and reflect on the legacy you want to leave behind, consider how you can strengthen Monroe County families and communities through a continued partnership with Habitat. Common planned gifts may include a gift in your will, your retirement or IRA, life insurance, or through memorial contributions.

If you have already included Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County in your plans, please complete this brief form, email us or call our office at 812.331.4069 to let us know! We would love to thank you and welcome you in to our Legacy Society. By letting us know, we can ensure that we fulfill your gift exactly as you intended.

The Women+ Build Society, previously known as the SHE Society, was created to honor and challenge women+ builders who commit to raising at least $1,000 per year for at least 5 years. Members of the WB+ Society will be recognized throughout the year for their efforts to support future Women+ Build house sponsorships and homeowners. All members also receive their own coveted pink or lime green hard hat and stickers to commemorate their years of membership.

The Habitat Groundbreakers commit to donate a set amount each time a family closes on their home mortgage, which provides funds to break ground on our next Habitat build.

Each Groundbreaker will be notified when a Habitat family closes on their home, with a request to contribute $50 toward the next home. We are currently building 8-12 homes annually.

To join a giving society, or for more information, please email us or call our office at 812.331.4069.
