Homeownership Program Application Window to Open September 18 – September 29, 2023

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County believes in the power of affordable homeownership to change lives from the individual to the collective community. We actively work to remove financial barriers and social inequalities to provide access to affordable homeownership for everyone who seeks it.

Through our Homeownership Program, we provide the coaching, education, and support to be successful in your home-buying journey. Our program allows members of our community to partner with donors and volunteers to build their home and achieve homeownership.

Qualified applications are reviewed by our Homeowner Selection Committee and loan applications are underwritten to ensure successful homeownership. Habitat homes are sold with an affordable mortgage. This affordable payment creates financial stability, allowing homeowners to invest in their families and future.

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County accepts applicants, volunteers, and supporters from all backgrounds for we wholeheartedly support self-expression and equity.

Our application window will be open from September 18 through September 29, 2023 and you must attend a Homeowner Information Meeting to be considered for and to receive an application. Meeting dates are:

  • Thursday, August 24, 2023 // Session one: 6 p.m. in English // Session two: 7 p.m. in Spanish
  • Saturday, August 26, 2023 // Session one: 10:30 a.m. in English // Session two: 11:30 a.m. in Spanish

Again, this one-hour meeting is a basic requirement for being accepted into the program and is offered in both English and Spanish. All meeting are held at Monroe County Public Library Auditorium at 303 East Kirkwood Avenue in Bloomington.

To determine if you qualify officially, you’ll need to complete and submit the official application within the open application window. Some questions to consider:

About Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County // Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is a nonprofit organization that builds homes and sustains affordable homeownership opportunities for families in Monroe County.

The focus of our mission is not simply the construction of houses, but also the development and empowerment of people and communities. We’re invested in the people involved in our work: our families who purchase Habitat homes, those involved in the volunteer construction of those houses, and those who financially support what we do. We seek to form partnerships among people from all walks of life and focus on building equity, stability, community, and legacy.

Our programs strive to create a sense of empowerment among residents, encouraging locals to take charge in their neighborhoods and create safe, vibrant communities they can enjoy for generations.
