Giving Societies

Habitat giving societies bring together dedicated supporters who make a long-term commitment to advancing affordable homeownership in Monroe County. Through annual gifts, planned giving, or milestone-based contributions, members provide the support that helps Habitat build homes, strengthen families, and expand opportunities in Monroe County.

Individuals and corporate members in the More Than Houses society commit to give at least $1,000 per year for five years. Their sustained support helps Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County invest in every aspect of our mission, from family services and volunteer engagement to land acquisition, infrastructure development, and the resources needed to expand affordable homeownership opportunities in our community.

Legacy Society members commit to supporting Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County through a planned gift, such as a bequest in a will, retirement account, life insurance policy, or other estate gift. These future investments help ensure Habitat can continue expanding affordable homeownership opportunities for generations to come, providing the long-term stability and resources needed to meet our community’s housing needs well into the future.

Women+ Build Society members who commit to fundraising or giving at least $1,000 annually for five years to support Habitat for  Humanity of Monroe County’s Women+ Build program. Their investment helps fund future Women+ Build home sponsorships, empowers volunteers to build alongside one another, and expands affordable homeownership opportunities for local families. Members are recognized throughout the year for their commitment and receive exclusive Women+ Build Society hard hats and membership stickers to celebrate their impact.

Groundbreakers Society members commit to making a gift of at least $50 each time a Habitat family purchases  their home and closes on their mortgage. With every homeownership milestone, Groundbreakers help lay the foundation for the next Habitat build, providing the flexible funding needed to begin construction and expand affordable homeownership opportunities for more local families. Members are notified each time a family closes their home and are invited to contribute toward the next home that will change a family’s future.

Other Ways to Give

There are many ways to support Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County beyond traditional cashdonations. Supporters can make a meaningful impact through gifts such as IRA charitable rollovers, donor-advised funds, stock or bond contributions, vehicle donations, shopping programs, or gifts of land. These flexible giving options allow donors to align their philanthropy with their financial plans while helping provide affordable homeownership opportunities for local families.

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is a 501(c)3 tax- exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your donation receipt as your official record. We’ll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.

If you prefer to make your donation by check, please make it out to “Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County” and mail it to 213 E Kirkwood Ave Bloomington, IN 47408.

A donation receipt will be immediately sent to you at the email address you provided on this form. Please be sure to keep a copy of your receipt for tax purposes. If you select a recurring donation, you will be sent an individual email each month your donation is processed. All donors will also receive a letter summarizing your annual giving at the start of each calendar year.

To increase or decrease your monthly gift, you can contact us for assistance or manage it directly through your online donor profile. Simply sign in to your account, locate your recurring donation, and select the option to edit it. From there, you can update your gift amount or make other changes to your monthly donation.

To pause or stop your monthly gift, please contact us for assistance or manage it directly through your online donor profile. Log in, navigate to the “Recurring Giving Plans” section, and select the Recurring Plan ID associated with your donation. From there, choose the option to pause your plan or make changes to your recurring gift.

To update your credit card or payment information for a recurring donation made through your online donor profile, you can either contact us for assistance or update it yourself. To do so, open a recent donation receipt in your email and click the “Manage Your Donation” link. From there, log in or create a profile, locate your recurring donation, and select “Edit Donation” to update and save your new payment information.

Yes, if your company offers a matching gift program, your donation to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County could be doubled or even tripled by your employer. To get started, use your company’s matching gift search tool to check eligibility and access the necessary forms and instructions. You can submit a matching gift request through your employer’s HR or benefits portal after making your donation.
