Each year, women+ from all walks of life come together to build stronger, safer communities through Habitat for Humanity’s Women+ Build program. Women and children are disproportionately impacted by unsafe and unstable housing, and Women+ Build empowers volunteers to take an active role in creating lasting change for local families.
This year, we are proud to announce our 2026 Women+ Build homeowners: Amber Lumen and Latasha Clark.
Amber’s journey towards homeownership began during an ordinary Christmas shopping trip when she received the life-changing call that she had been accepted into Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program. After facing housing instability, financial strain, and cramped living conditions with her two children, Runa and Onyx, Habitat opened the door to stability. As she prepares to help build her future home, she looks forward to creating a permanent place where her family can thrive for years to come.
Latasha’s journey to homeownership is one of resilience, perseverance, and hope. After surviving an abusive relationship and raising her family as a single mother, she found support through The Rise and eventually Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program. Though she was initially rejected, Latasha continued working toward financial stability and was accepted when she reapplied in 2024. Following the loss of her daughter, Latasha also became guardian to her granddaughter, making the opportunity for a stable home even more meaningful. Today, she looks forward to creating a safe, welcoming place for her family while inspiring others facing hardship to keep fighting for a better future.
We are excited to welcome Amber and Latasha to this year’s Women+ Build campaign. Community members are invited to meet our future homeowners at the annual Women+ Build Kickoff Event as we celebrate the official launch of Women+ Build 2026.
