BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (July 7, 2026) — Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is sharing an update following the devastating house fire that occurred early Sunday morning in Osage Place.  

Thankfully, the family is safe, and no one was injured in the fire. However, their home was destroyed.  

“We are heartbroken for the family as they face the loss of their home,” said Wendi Goodlett, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County. “While we are incredibly grateful that everyone made it out safely, we know the road ahead will be challenging. Our commitment is to walk alongside them and support them however we can in the weeks and months ahead.” 

Since the fire, many members of the community have reached out with messages of encouragement and offers to help. Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is deeply grateful for the compassion shown during this difficult time. 

As the family begins navigating the recovery process, Habitat staff will continue assessing their needs and coordinating support for the family.
