On March 22, it was announced that MacKenzie Scott made her largest charitable gift to-date – $436 million to Habitat for Humanity International and 84 U.S. Habitat affiliates.

While Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County was not a recipient, we celebrate the generosity of Ms. Scott and the value she places in Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Her gifts will have a transformational impact on the 84 affiliates and the families they serve. We also recognize and appreciate the visibility Ms. Scott is bringing to all Habitat affiliates, including ours.

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is honored to be supported by the generosity of our local donors, volunteers and community. For over 30 years, you have helped us raise funds and raise walls to house over 780 individuals, including 447 children. We currently have 100 individuals – including 54 children – working toward safe, affordable homeownership through our program.

Last year, we were able to house four families thanks to your ongoing support. This year, we are on track to house at least nine families by the end of the fiscal year in June. We are very excited to break ground in the coming weeks on our 218th, 219th, and 220th homes during our Home Builders Blitz.

Please know that our collective efforts will continue to provide homeownership opportunities for hard working families in Monroe County and your gifts are transforming lives here locally.

Thank you!
