Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County Women+ Build 2023 Recap

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is thrilled to celebrate the successful home dedications of our Women+ Build families, Francisca & Ricardo and Erika, on September 23rd. This momentous occasion marked a significant triumph, showcasing the incredible progress made during our Women+ Build initiative.

This year’s achievements have been nothing short of extraordinary. Not only did our dedicated community surpass our initial fundraising goal, reaching an impressive $233,304 (and counting), but the construction process also demonstrated unparalleled dedication and teamwork. In just 12 days, both homes neared completion, a testament to the collaborative spirit of our Women+ Build community. We are particularly proud to have welcomed 345 remarkable women+ builders, including 145 first-time participants. This turnout speaks to the passion and commitment of our community.

We extend our gratitude to the 27 invaluable team leaders, 12 dynamic women+ teams, 55 dedicated crew leaders, 34 generous food and drink donors, 8 talented photographers, and 16 supportive site hosts.

This remarkable feat was accomplished because of our women+ builders’ belief in the transformative power of affordable homeownership and the empowerment of individuals in our community.

Since the year 2000, Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County Women+ Build has funded and constructed 35 homes, providing shelter for 85 people, including 41 children, and raising an astounding $2.8 million in the process.

We extend a special thank you to our esteemed sponsors for their invaluable support: Commercial Service, Houston Family Foundation, Loren Wood Builders, LLC, Master Rental Center, RCV Roofing, Siding & Gutters, AmVets Auxiliary 2000, Boston Scientific, CRE Rentals, Heflin Industries, JL Waters, John Bethell Title Company, Inc., St. John Associates, and Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington-Habitat Task Force.
